Plan a short product video that answers one buying question

Write a focused product video brief with a clear demonstration, accurate captions, and a website destination that matches the item shown.

A short product video is easier to plan when it answers one question. “How does the lid lock?” gives you a clear demonstration. “Show everything about this product” usually produces a rushed sequence of features with little explanation.

Choose the question from product inquiries, return reasons, or a feature that still photographs do not explain well. Use the actual item and verified product information as the basis for the script.

Write the demonstration before the opening line

List the action the viewer needs to see. For a storage container, that might be aligning the lid, closing the clips, and reopening it. Film the motion clearly enough that the viewer can understand the mechanism without a dramatic claim.

Then write a short opening that names the question: “Here is how the side clips close.” Avoid implying a strength, safety, or leak-resistance test unless you have performed an appropriate test and can support the claim.

Use a simple shot sequence

Begin with the full product so the viewer recognizes it. Move to a close view of the relevant action, then return to the whole item or the result. Hold the important moment long enough to inspect.

If the demonstration needs a prop, make clear whether that prop is included in the purchase. Keep the product version consistent with the linked page. A video of an older model can create expectations the current model does not meet.

Make the meaning available without sound

Use accurate captions for speech and concise on-screen labels for important details. Keep text readable on a phone and away from controls that may cover it in the intended placement.

Provide the key information in the surrounding product-page text too. A customer should not have to watch a video to find essential dimensions or limitations. The product description guide helps keep that written information complete.

Match the ending to the next step

If the video explains a feature, link to the matching product or variant. If it compares models, use a comparison or category destination that lets the viewer inspect those models. Avoid dropping a highly specific viewer onto an unrelated homepage.

Prepare separate exports as needed for the website and your chosen social placements, checking each platform’s current upload requirements before publishing. Keep an original master so you can revise captions or crops without starting again.

Review before distribution

Watch the final export on a phone with sound off, then with sound on. Confirm the captions, product identity, demonstrated action, and link. Check that you have permission to use music, footage, and identifiable people appearing in the video.

Measure whether the video helps answer the selected question through customer feedback and relevant page behavior. A useful demonstration earns its place by making the product easier to understand, even when it is visually simple.
